दूध आदि को गौरस भी कहा जाता है। जबकि सोया दूध आदि को गौरस नहीं कहा जा सकता है। मुझे नहीं लगता कि तब जब हर घर में गौधन उपलब्ध थे, सोया आदि के दूध उपलब्ध / प्रचलित थे। ये तो वर्तमान की खोज है क्यूंकि मांग के अनुरूप पर्याप्त दूध की उपलबधता नहीं है। (Necessity is the mother of all inventions)

आटे के मुर्गे की कहानी आपने सुनी ही होगी। उसमें भी बराबर दोष लगता है।
My personal views on this topic in some segregated points-
- If you would have listen the critics of vegan movement (specifically against the argument that even drinking milk qualifies you as non-vegetarian), they say that this was a part of a big propaganda narrative by foreign capitalists and global-corporations to add a large chunk of population under the tag of non-vegetarian. And leading to more and more popularity of meat-egg and their products. And the best way was to bring the educated and young Indians on their side against the traditional beliefs of the India with half-true facts and pseudo-logics.
- I think the vegan movement which primarily began in foreign countries (against the atrocities towards all types of animals by the capitalist economy) were of this view that even milk is animal product so it should not be accepted by vegetarians.
- जैन चरणानुयोग के अनुसार दूध आदि की मर्यादा बताई गई है। दूध निकालने के अंतर मुहूर्त के अंदर उसको उबालकर उसकी मर्यादा बढ़ाने का भी नियम है। इसी प्रकार दही घी आदि के बनाने और उनकी मर्यादा की भी पर्याप्त जानकारी चरणानुयोग के ग्रंथों में प्राप्त होती है।
- Laboratory में जिस दूध दही का परीक्षण किया जाता है, वो तो स्वयं ही मर्यादा के बाहर का ही होता है। बाज़ार के दूध दही के संबंध में भी इसके संबंध में समझ लेना चाहिए।
- पहले के समय में दूध दही छांछ आदि सर्वोत्तम आहार और घर घर में गाय आदि के होने के कारण सुलभता से उपलब्ध भी होता था। गाय आदि को प्राय परिवार के अंग जैसा ही प्रेम मिलता था और देखभाल भी उसी अनुरूप होती थी।
- वर्तमान परिस्थितियों में आप दूध का सेवन करते है या अन्य विकल्पों को देखते हुए नहीं करते है, ये आपकी पर्सनल और व्यक्तिगत राय है, परंतु आगम की मर्यादा में रहते हुए दूध आदि की प्राप्ति के द्वारा शुद्ध सात्विक जीवन यापन करने वालों पर प्रश्न चिन्ह लगाना योग्य नहीं है।
