तीर्थंकर भगवान
छात्र - गुरुजी ! बाहुबली क्या भगवान नहीं हैं ?
अध्यापक - क्यों नहीं हैं ?
छात्र - चौबीस भगवानों में तो उनका नाम आता ही नहीं है।
अध्यापक - चौबीस तो तीर्थंकर होते हैं। जो वीतरागी और सर्वज्ञ हैं, वे सभी भगवान हैं। अरहंत परमेष्ठी और सिद्ध परमेष्ठी भगवान ही तो हैं।
छात्र - क्या तीर्थंकर भगवान नहीं होते ?
अध्यापक - तीर्थकर तो भगवान होते ही हैं पर साथ ही जो तीर्थंकर न हों पर वीतरागी और पूर्णज्ञानी हों, वे अरहंत और सिद्ध भी भगवान हैं।
छात्र - तो तीर्थंकर किसे कहते हैं ?
अध्यापक - जो धर्मतीर्थ (मुक्ति का मार्ग) का उपदेश देते हैं, समवशरण आदि विभूति से युक्त होते हैं और जिनको तीर्थंकर नामकर्म नाम का महापुण्य का उदय होता है, उन्हें तीर्थंकर कहते हैं। वे चौबीस होते हैं।

Student - But, he occupies no place in the list of twenty-four Tirthankaras.
Теacher - Twenty-four are the Tirthankaras. All those who are omniscients and are free from
attachment are the Gods.
Student - Are the Tirthankaras not Gods?
Teacher - The Tirthankaras are indeed Gods, but even those who are not Tirthankaras, but are
unattached and omniscient i.e. the Arahantas and the Siddhas are also Gods.
Student - Who is a Tirthankar?
Teacher - One who preaches the right path to liberation, is surrounded by the magnificence of Samavsaran and other glories and in whom Tirthankar Namkarma has come to fruition, is called a Tirthankar. These are twenty-four in number.
